NEW RELEASE
2024 Billy Button ‘The Squid’ Saperavi

Saperavi is an ancient Georgian variety that literally translates to ink or dye in the local dialect, in reference to its intense colour. It is one of the few red wine varieties that has red flesh. This fruit was sourced from Merriang Vineyards at Merriang South.

One of the few varieties that has red coloured flesh, it produces intensely coloured and flavoured wines. Potpourri on the nose combining aromas of dried herbs and fragrant rose petals with a rich intense palate.

Reviews

"There is no denying that saperavi lives large and overstated, whether it's the inky, impenetrable colour, the dark fragrance or the dense, earthy savouriness that inhabits the palate. It's a generous mouthful whichever way you look at it, but the maker brings a sense of elegance, taming the robust tannins and presenting a firm but fine delivery. That's an art."
